Zanon Setting Records Early in Season
SPORTSGATE: OCTOBER 20, 2019: Kingston Jr special teams were indeed that on Sunday afternoon, accounting for five of the team's six goals in a 6-3 Provincial Women's Hockey League victory over the home-ice Brampton Jr. Canadettes.

One day after being held to one goal by the Etobicoke Jr. Dolphins and suffering their first loss of the season (4-1), the Ice Wolves collected three power-play goals and netted two other goals while killing penalties.First-year Ice Wolves foward Kiara Zanon scored both of the short-handed goals, giving her a club single-season record and league-leading four this year. Her five short-handed points are also a team single-season best and a league high. She now sits just one short-handed goal and one short-handed point shy of the career marks set by Brianna Gaffney in her five-year career (5-1-6). Zanon, who also had an assist for a three-point game, leads the league with 16 points (8G, 8A). Both of Wheeler's goals came on power plays, as did Rebecca Thompson's tally. Kingston's other goal, of the even-strength variety, was scored by Haylie Kirpatrick 59 seconds into the third period to increase Kingston's lead to 4-0 at the time.
