Team Captures Silver Medal
SPORTSGATE HOCKEY: APRIL 8, 2019: The Kingston JR'S came one win shy of capturing the second jewel of provincial women's hockey's triple crown as they dropped a 3-0 decision to the London Jr. Devilettes in the Ontario Women's Hockey Association's intermediate AA final on Sunday.

The JR'S have already won the Provincial Women's Hockey League regular season pennant, and an OWHA title would have made it two-for-two in key titles. The third jewel, the PWHL playoff championship, is being contested this coming weekend and Kingston enters the final four as the top-ranked team. The Ice Wolves qualified for the gold/silver game by edging the Oakville Hornets 2-1 in overtime in one Sunday morning semifinal. Rebecca Thompson's goal 49 seconds into the extra frame won the game. Kingston edged the Cambridge Rivulettes 4-3 in the quarter-finals on Saturday, with the winning goal being scored in the second overtime period by Scout Watkins-Southward. In pool play, Kingston beat the Whitby Wolves 3-2 on Thursday and downed the Rideau-St. Lawrence Thunder 9-1 and the Burlington Barracudas 4-0 on Friday. A second Ice Wolves team won a medal at the tournament, played over four days throughout the Greater Toronto Area, when Kingston's bantam BB squad slipped past the Toronto Leaside Wildcats 1-0 to claim the bronze.
