Former Kingston JR Burriss Drafted
Former Syracuse women's ice hockey standout Alysha Burriss was selected in the 2018 Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) Draft by the Toronto Furies on Sunday, Aug. 26.The Furies took Burriss, a left winger, with the second pick of the seventh round and the 35th overall pick.
Burriss, who played for the Orange from 2014-18, ranks fourth in school history in both career goals (40) and points (94 – 40 goals, 54 assists). She tied the Orange's single-game assist record (four) against Lindenwood as a senior.
The native of Napanee, Ontario, led the team in points (25) and was second on the team in assists (18) last season. Burriss was named to the CHA All-Conference Rookie Team as a freshman after the 2014-15 season. Burriss graduated with a degree in child and family studies from the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. She was a four-time member of the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll and earned a spot on the CHA All-Academic Team in 2017-18.
