Kingston Upsets Oakville in Final Game
HOCKEY February 18, 2018: Samantha Wood scored 5:10 into the first period off an assist by Scout Watkins Southward in the Kingston Jr's final game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon. Goaltender Kaitlyn Evelyn made the goal stand up as the game-winner as the Kingston Jr. Ice Wolves won 1-0 over the Oakville Hornets in a Provincial Women's Hockey League game at the Invista Centre.

Evelyn made 18 saves in her third shutout of the season, which tied both a team single-season record (Liz Spinozzi, 2013-14) and a career mark (Spinnozzi; Whitney Morton, 2015-16, 2016-17). Evelyn also tied the franchise record for most goaltender wins in a season with her ninth victory (Morton, 2016-17).The Ice Wolves finished the season with the franchise's second-best record (17-18-3-0 for 37 points) and finish (12th place) since joining the league in 2012-13. Last season, the Ice Wolves finished 17-15-2-4 for 40 points and finished 11th.This year's team was also the franchise's highest scoring edition, netting 78 goals to break the 2012-13 total of 76, and allowed the second-fewest goals against, with 86 compared to last year's 72.Kingston will meet the No. 5 Cambridge Rivulettes (19-9-6-4) in a best-of-three Round of 16 playoff series. Dates have not yet been announced. In the regular season, the Ice Wolves tied the Rivulettes 1-1 in their first meeting, Nov. 3, and beat them 3-2 a week later.
