1-1 Tie for Home Opener
The Kingston Jr. Ice Wolves kept their amazing home-opener undefeated streak alive on Friday night, tying the Bluewater Hawks 1-1 in Provincial Women's Hockey League play at the Invista Centre.

The Ice Wolves, since entering the 20-team Intermediate AA league in the 2012-13 season, are unbeaten in six home openers, with three wins and three ties to their credit.In overall season openers, Kingston, which has kicked off its schedule at home five times, has lost just once, a 5-2 defeat last season at the hands of the Oakville Hornets in Oakville. The Ice Wolves went on to make the playoffs for the first time last season.Scout Watkins-Southward snapped a scoreless tie at 7:12 of the second period to give Kingston its only marker. She also scored in last season's first game on home ice as the Ice Wolves dropped the Cambridge Rivulettes 3-1.Bluewater tied the game at 11:47 of the third period on a goal from Hannah Finlayson.The teams played through a scoreless five-minute overtime period before a tie was declared.The Ice Wolves outshot the Hawks 31-29 in the game, including 21-12 over the first two periods. Veteran Kathryn Jalink made 28 stops for Kingston, with Kirby Way saving 30 shots for the Hawks.The Ice Wolves host the Barrie Sharks on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at the Invista Centre.
